I’ve been a involved in a number of cases of mistaken identity, but I don’t think there is one as long-running as this one.

There is another Phillip Bowden in the U.K. whose emails I get from time to time. (Friendly correspondence, mostly. Once, even an offer for a university teaching position!)

Anyhow, I’ve always responded explaining the mistake but it never seems to work.

Today, I’m glad it didn’t, because the sign-off line of a pretty commonplace invitation to a wedding reception turned out to be one of the funniest things I’ve read in a while.
